Healthy Children Learn Better…
If your child is ill or has had a fever of 100 degrees or higher in the last 24 hours, please keep him/her home. This is for your student’s comfort, as well as for the protection of the other children in school. If you are unsure as to whether or not to send your child, please feel free to call the Health Office.
Medication…
If your child needs any form of medication at school, an authorization form must be on file with both the parent and doctor’s signature. This form is available in our health office. An authorization form is required for all medication, including over-the-counter medications.
CHDP Physicals and Oral Health Assessments…
- A CHDP physical examination is required for all students entering first grade. However, it is strongly recommended that your child has the CHDP physical before entering Kindergarten. If completed prior to Kindergarten, this exam will count toward the first grade physical, and will give your child a head start should there be any problems such as vision or hearing difficulties. The CHDP physical form is available in the office.
An Oral Health Assessment (Dental check-up) is also required for Kindergarten and first grade students.
Swine Flu: A Concern for All Students and Staff
In order to provide children with the high quality education they deserve, schools need to remain open. Because influenza, or “flu,” can be spread easily from one person to another, please emphasize to your child the importance of helping to reduce the spread of flu in our schools.
Here’s what you can do to help stop the spread of flu this school year and help keep schools operating and functioning in a normal manner during this flu season:
- Teach your children to practice good hygiene.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and hot water.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and hot water is not available.
- Set a good example for your children by doing this too.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow, not in your hands.
- Stay home from school and work when ill.
- Do not return for at least 24-hours after there is no longer a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medicine).
- Clean items and surfaces that are frequently touched or handled by a number of persons.
- Get your family vaccinated for seasonal flu and the H1N1 Swine Flu.
